Players’ Code of Conduct

The Volvo China Junior Match Play Championship(hereinafter referred to as “VCJM”) takes great pride in the quality of its players, host facilities and broad community involvement. In order to continue making the championship enjoyable for everyone, the Championship Committee requires all players to adhere to a set of guidelines known as the Code of Conduct. Its purpose is to help VCJM participants grow and mature by understanding and accepting the consequences of their actions. The Code of Conduct is to be followed throughout the junior's stay at the championship.


  • Unsportsmanlike conduct, including abusive language, club throwing, cheating, disrespect to volunteers, officials or fellow competitors;
  • Use of drugs or alcohol, smoking products when on or off the course;
  • Spitting and littering;
  • Failure to adhere to the dress code during practice round or tournament play;
  • Any abusive behavior to host hotel or host venue property;
  • Any absence to social activates of the event, such as Gala Dinner, Player’s meeting and Prize Giving Ceremony, etc, and
  • Any other conduct not becoming of a VCJM Player;
  • The Championship Committee may assess penalty based on severity and frequency of the violation(s).


  • Hats/visors must be worn with brim forward; players must remove hat/visor while indoors at host facility.
  • Collared shirts must be worn and tucked in at all times;
  • Golf Shorts are permitted. However they must not be shorter than three inches above the knee, and may not be rolled up. Socks are required when shorts are worn.
  • Tank tops, collarless T-shirts are prohibited;
  • Denim shorts, short-shorts, cut-off shorts, gym shorts and jeans are prohibited.
  • Earrings for males, body piercings are prohibited. Tattoos (if any) must be covered.
  • Golf Shoes must be worn on the course.
  • In order to remain the tradition and image of VCJM, shirts and Hats with the championship logo, issued by the Championship Committee is recommend to be worn during the Match Play days, especially the Final Day;
  • Proper attire is required at all times at the host facility. The Championship Committee will review questionable attire. Should the host facility have a stricter dress code, its policy will take precedence.


  • Remind your child to conduct himself/herself as a golfer with a polite and good sportsmanlike attitude, and to avoid any improper behavior which violates the Code of Conduct, Rules of Golf or Golf Etiquette;
  • Encourage your child to express appreciation to those persons who contributed to the success of the championship, including sponsor, committee, staff of the host venue and hotel, etc;
  • Remind your child to take off his/her hat when entering the clubhouse or attending any indoor social activities, to show his /her respect to others;
  • Allow VCJM Rules Officials to administer rulings. You will be brought into a situation ONLY if the Rules Official asks you;
  • When on the course, turn off cell phones or turn ringers to the silent or the vibrate mode. Respect host facility's policy if cell phones are not allowed;
  • Adhere to host facility's dress code. It may not allow blue jeans, T-shirts, etc;
  • Applaud for the excellent performance of both your child and other children.


In golf, customs of etiquette and decorum are just as important as rules governing play. It is appropriate for parents and spectators to applaud successful strokes, but in order to secure the spirit of the game, we ask parents and spectators to please adhere to the following guidelines: Please note that if any of the following guidelines are perceived as broken by a VCJM official, the player may be subject to penalty.

  •  “Advice is any council or suggestion which could influence a player in determining his play, the choice of club or the method of making a stroke.”
  • Keeping the above statement in mind, please keep your conversation with the player to words of encouragement as long as advice is not given.
  • Spectators are allowed to aide in the search for lost golf balls.
  • Spectators should stay on cart paths. In the absence of cart paths, we ask that spectators stay in the rough. Please stay off fairways, tees and greens.
  • No loud talking, No noise making, Walk – never run on the golf course, specially when the player is preparing the stroke;
  • Spectators should not give rulings. Please seek a VCJM rules official if the need arises.
  • Mobile phones, beepers and other electronic devices shall be turned off or switch to the mute or vibration mode.
  • Spectators are allowed to carry medicine, drinks, food, umbrellas, etc.;
  • Adhere to host facility's dress code. It may not allow blue jeans, T-shirts, etc; High heel shoes are prohibited on the golf course;
  • The VCJM staff may assess a penalty based on the severity of the violation. If a serious breach has occurred, the spectator may be asked to leave the facility;
  • Spectators attend VCJM events at their own risk. For your personal safety, we ask you exercise caution at all times. When inclement weather moves into the area, the VCJM will suspend play by sounding airhorns. Accordingly, you should seek shelter immediately. The VCJM staff will evacuate players from the course first, and then spectators.
