Beijing (CHINA): India's Gaganjeet Bhullar celebrated his 30th birthday yesterday (April 27) after finishing his second round at the Volvo China Open just five shots off the lead at Beijing Huairou Topwin Golf and Country Club.

Bhullar, who carded a level par 72 to add to his 68 (-4) from day one, was presented with a special birthday cake to mark the occasion by tournament officials. It was the fifth year in succession where the Amritsar golfer has celebrated his birthday at China's national open golf championship and he goes into the weekend aiming to celebrate in style.

England's Matt Wallace was the leader at the halfway mark on nine-under par with Bhullar the best placed Indian player in the field. Arjun Atwal, Shubhankar Sharma and Shiv Kapur were a further shot adrift on three-under, while Khalin Joshi went into the third day of the RMB 20 million tournament on two-under.
